# Provenance — schema-evolution discovery, imported 2026-08-09

[p01] This directory is a byte-for-byte import of
`C:\Users\olegc\git\v\discovery\vibevm-schema-evolution-discovery\` (the
original stays in place; pointers in `CONTINUE.md`, `vibevm/vibespecs/WAL.xml` and
`BACKLOG.md ##owner-decisions` refer to it). Imported so the study obeys the
project's own law — files inside the repository are the only shared memory —
after the owner flagged the out-of-tree location as a fragility.

[p02] **Genre: research documents (comparative-research flow).** Non-binding. The
study speaks in dated verbatim quotes; `02-primary-sources-cache/` holds the
third-party primary sources it cites (same posture as `refs/` — reference
copies, not authored content, not relicensable). Reading order and the
mandatory-reading list live in `12-HANDOFF.xml §2`.

[p03] **What came of it (the two-way links):**

- [p04] Contract: [`vibevm/vibespecs/common/PROP-044-change-native-formats.xml`](../../common/PROP-044-change-native-formats.xml)
  — the change-native formats ideology this study fed.
- Lore: [`vibevm/vibespecs/design/change-native-formats-verdict.xml`](../../design/change-native-formats-verdict.xml)
  — the convened-council verdict that chose the architecture, recorded in full.
- Plan: the change-native build campaign this study fed (TZ v0.1) — executed whole and folded into its tombstone 2026-08-18; a closed plan is cited by name and date, never path-linked (the B-088 law).

[p05] This subtree is deliberately **outside the progress-markup corpus**
(`progress.toml` includes are enumerated and do not name `vibevm/vibespecs/research/**`):
these are evidence documents, not contracts — per the campaign's own line,
a document enters the corpus when it asserts something this project could be
wrong about *as a claim of its own*; a study's claims are claims about others,
kept with their quotes and re-fetch lists instead of verdicts.
